Africa's Indigenous Peoples and Climate Change
Thursday 10th April
With Dr. Nigel Crawhall, Director of the Secretariat for the Indigenous
Peoples of Africa Coordinating Committee (IPACC).
Africa’s indigenous peoples have been pushed ever further into marginal
lands over the centuries. But over the last decade they have been linking
up into what is becoming a movement of the indigenous peoples of Africa.
They are engaged in struggles to protect the last remaining intact forests
and other fragile ecosystems, which they have guarded despite external
pressures.

Nutrition – Is ‘Hidden Hunger’ the Missing Link?
Wednesday 23rd April
With Ian Marks & Peter Wallace, Trustees of ‘Health Empowerment
through Nutrition’.
“Hidden hunger affects more than two billion people. Even when
a person consumes adequate calories and protein, if they lack one single
micronutrient, or a combination of vitamins and minerals, their immune
system is compromised, and infections take hold.” HETN is one
of the few organisations that work on the root cause of today’s
multiple hunger problems by making the link between healthy soils and
healthy food. This reinforces the vital importance of social movements,
such as Transition Towns, which are involved in regenerating biodiversity,
local food systems and local economies.
